About JD (the Food Provider and Dog Trainer)....
My name is JD, but people often call me by my trail name "Pine." I was raised on a horse farm in Northern Idaho and though I moved to Boise in my late teens, still think of myself as being from the North. I attended college at the University of Idaho studying Creative Writing. During college I trained horses to help supplement my income and continued to do so after finishing with school in 2005. When the economy took a nose dive, and a knee injury sidelined me from training horses I started working at a local kennel. This was where I fell in love with dog training.
Having grown up training the family dogs in a variety of 4H activities, and my background with horses I was able to transition myself from horse trainer, to dog trainer. And I haven't had a single regret since. My passion is teaching people to enjoy their dogs in the wonderful outdoor environments that surround Boise. Providing training in everything from body awareness, to recall rehab(tm). I use modern scientific techniques involving positive reinforcement, keeping training fun for both dog and owner. I like to say my philosophy boils down to a simple statement: encourage the behaviors you want to see, discourage those you don't. And with that in mind, I enjoy meeting new clients, and their canine companions, and helping them get the most out of their four legged friends as family members and competitive champions.
